As the title suggests these are two views of the same place, one from indoors and one from outdoors. We are asked to make a quick sketch, no more than one hour. It is October, and the Liquidambar styraciflua is a riot of red, and the little Amelanchier lamarkii is starting to turn gorgeous shades of orange. Everything else is still quite green.
The first sketch took longer than expected. There is too much to look at… I guess that is why this part of the course is called ‘where to look and how to select’! The second took longer than an hour too and feels unfinished, but I did not want to spend more time on it for now. I prefer working on paintings that I have been able to prepare.
